As many of you know, I haven't posted in quite a long time. There is a reason for that.
Whilst I have done things since March, they haven't been in quick succession. I've spent most days just sitting around the house, waiting for Wendy and Geoff to get home. I don't begrudge them this, because I never expected them to put their life on hold whilst I was staying with them - and I've stayed for around two months. Obviously, their normal lives had to continue.
So yes, I have done stuff. I've seen the Australian Formula One qualifying. I've been 4-wheel driving twice and found I have a knack for it. I've been to a party and got rather gazeboed on Smirnoff Ice and apple cider. I've dined at a restaurant where a waitress proclaimed I "must be the coolest person in the world, ever. Seriously". I've been to little villages on Mount Dandenong where they have bags of Pear Drops for $5.50. I've seen Wendy get her head shaved for the Leukaemia Foundation. I've been to an interactive science museum. I went with Wendy to get her new tattoo. I saw a kangaroo that reached my shoulders in height. I've been to three job interviews and not got any of them. And I had a birthday.
The thing is, these things all happened so far apart that it didn't seem worth writing about in a blog. I'd have to fill it with what I'd done during the week, and mostly that added up to a big fat nothing. So, I figured, I'd wait until I decided to move on and travel some more (this was preferably after earning some money, but that didn't happen) before getting you all up to date.
Which means, I've decided to move on. I've thoroughly exhausted Melbourne, I feel, and it's time to go explore other parts of Australia. Next week I shall spend a few days in Sydney before heading back up to Queensland to hopefully get some work harvesting fruit. Actually, I have just phoned the National Harvest Line and have been told that they're expecting to hire people in the next three weeks, which fits in rather nicely.
The more observant people will notice that that will take me up to the beginning on June, which is when I'm expected to return to the UK. This means that I will be extending my travels - but to when, I don't know. However, I'm determined to get up to Cairns if it kills me. I understand that going to Ayers Rock will cost a bomb, and frankly, I don't have that money. It'll be tight just going to Sydney before heading back to Brisbane. But I am stubborn in my ways, and I will not leave before going to Cairns. I will make this work.
So, there's an update into what has happened in the last few weeks, and an explanation for the lack of blogging. I will keep you all better informed from now on, now that things are moving forward again.
All the best to you all!
